Joe Paterno 1926-2012
It's a sad day for college footbal today, Joe Paterno, the legendary former coach of Penn State died this morning at the age of 85.....
Joe was hired as an assistant at Penn State in 1950, and, was their head coach for the past 46 seasons, along the way, winning 2 national championships, going to 37 bowl games, and, winning a record 24 of them, and, he has more 10+ win seasons then all but 6 division 1 schools....and, he amassed a division 1 record 409 career victories....
He was fired in November of 2011 amid a child sexual abuse scandal involving his former assistant, Jerry Sandusky......days after being fired, Joe was diagnosed with lung cancer....
I could go on a rant about Jerry Sandusky...but, I choose not to, instead I choose to honor Joe Paterno....
I believe like Paterno's one son does, Joe didn't die of cancer, he lived for that school, he lived for the kids that played for him, and, when the scool fired him, Joe simply gave up, in my opinion, Joe Paterno died of a broken heart.....
Joe Paterno is survived by his wife, 5 childern, 17 grandchildern, and, by all of his players, past & present....
The Ramblings Report extend it's thoughts & prayers to the family of Joe Paterno....
